MC3+ Cleaner must always be dosed first. Add it to the system via the filter's dosing port, run the heating through several cycles over 24–48 hours to mobilise and disperse sludge, then drain the system completely and flush through with clean water. Only once the system is drained and refilled should MC1+ Protector be introduced. Dosing both chemicals simultaneously — or adding MC1+ before flushing out the MC3+ — will prevent the cleaner from working effectively and may reduce the inhibitor's protective action.

A 500ml dose of MC1+ Protector is formulated to treat systems up to 125 litres — roughly equivalent to 15 radiators in a standard domestic property. If your system volume exceeds this, you will need additional MC1+. To calculate your system volume accurately, use the radiator volumes listed in the ADEY dosing guide alongside the boiler and pipework water content. The inhibitor concentration should be checked annually using an ADEY test strip or refractometer and topped up as needed at each service visit.

The key difference is the filter model included. This pack (FL1-03-01868) contains the original MagnaClean Professional — ADEY's established full-flow filter. The Professional 2 Chemical Pack (MAGPRO2PACK) contains the newer MagnaClean Professional 2, which features an updated bi-directional body, improved isolation valves, and a quick-release canister trigger for faster servicing, along with a 2-year filter warranty. Both packs include identical 500ml bottles of MC1+ Protector and MC3+ Cleaner.

Yes — both the MagnaClean Professional filter and the ADEY MC1+/MC3+ chemicals are suitable for open-vented gravity-fed systems as well as sealed pressurised systems. For open-vented systems, install the filter at any point on the pipework between the last radiator and the boiler, ensuring the flow direction through the filter is correct. Inhibitor dosing on open-vented systems should take the feed-and-expansion tank into account, as top-up water will dilute the inhibitor over time — check concentration more frequently on these systems.

In most cases, yes. The combination of a magnetic system filter and a BS7593-compliant corrosion inhibitor (MC1+) satisfies the water treatment and filtration conditions set by the majority of UK boiler manufacturers — including Worcester Bosch, Baxi, Vaillant, Ideal, and Glow-worm — as a prerequisite for their extended warranty periods. Always verify the specific requirements in the boiler's installation manual, as some manufacturers stipulate a minimum filtration standard or a named product.

The filter should be serviced at every annual boiler check. Close the isolation valves, open the drain valve to release pressure, then use the included filter spanner to remove the lid and lift out the magnet sheath. Wipe the sheath clean with a cloth to remove captured magnetite, rinse the canister to remove any settled debris, then reassemble and reopen the valves. Use the valve spanner provided for easy operation of the isolation valves. Check the inhibitor concentration via the filter dosing port and top up MC1+ if required.
