Polypipe UFH5ZW 5 Zone Wiring Centre for Underfloor Heating Systems
The Polypipe UFH5ZW is a 5-zone underfloor heating wiring centre that acts as the central hub between a UFH manifold, up to five Polypipe 230 V thermostats, the manifold pump and valve, and the heat source. It provides 230 V switched outputs per zone, dedicated pump and valve outputs, and a volt-free boiler-enable contact compatible with virtually any combi, system or heat-only boiler — including heat-pump controllers that need a dry-contact call-for-heat.
Mounted next to the manifold on DIN rail or directly to the wall, it handles up to four 230 V actuators per zone and includes a UFH/RAD slide switch on zone 5 so the final channel can drive a radiator zone valve. Neon LED indication for zone, boiler, pump and valve simplifies commissioning, and an onboard 5 A anti-surge fuse protects all 230 V outputs.
When a thermostat calls for heat, the UFH5ZW fires a 230 V output to the zone actuators, energises the manifold pump and valve, and closes the volt-free boiler contact — one unit orchestrating the whole circuit.
The boiler output is a dry-contact (LS/LR) relay — compatible with nearly all combi, system and heat-only boilers, plus heat-pump controllers that need a clean volt-free call-for-heat.
A slide switch reassigns zone 5 to a radiator zone valve. In RAD mode the pump and UFH valve outputs stay dormant for that zone, so a mixed rad-plus-UFH system runs from one wiring centre.
Separate UFH pump and UFH valve outputs (with grey/orange aux terminals) drive the manifold directly — no external relays needed for a standard blending-valve manifold.
Two timed switch-live inputs (T1 and T2) route back to each zone's thermostat — allowing a central programmer to gate day/night setpoints across all five zones.
Neon LEDs show live status for each zone, the boiler, pump and valve — instant visual confirmation of which circuit is calling for heat, useful when diagnosing a stuck actuator.

Which thermostats work with the UFH5ZW?
Any Polypipe 230 V hard-wired thermostat — including the UFHDIALW simple dial, UFHPROGW programmable, UFHSMARTW SmartStat and the DS1. It also accepts any third-party thermostat with a 230 V switched-live output using the standard L / N / E / S-L terminal pattern, plus optional T1/T2 time-clock returns.
Can I use it with a heat pump or mixed system?
Yes. The boiler output is a volt-free dry contact — exactly what most heat-pump controllers need for a call-for-heat input. For mixed radiator + UFH, set zone 5 to RAD mode: that channel switches a radiator zone valve and calls the heat source without enabling the UFH pump or UFH valve outputs.
How many actuators can I connect per zone?
Up to four 230 V thermal actuators in parallel per zone output. If a single room needs more loops — a large open-plan kitchen-diner, for example — split it across two zones sharing a thermostat, or wire two thermostats to both call the same boiler and pump via their zone outputs.
Does it need its own fused spur?
Yes — Polypipe's installation documentation specifies a 5 A fused spur on its own circuit. The onboard 5 A 20 mm anti-surge fuse protects the zone, pump and valve outputs from the board; the external fuse protects the supply cable and the unit as a whole.
Where should it be mounted?
Ideally in the plant room or airing cupboard next to the UFH manifold so the actuator cables stay short. Clip onto 35 mm DIN rail inside a control enclosure, or screw directly to the wall via the four mounting points. The IP20 rating means it must be installed indoors in a dry location — not in an unheated garage or outbuilding.
