Polypipe Standard UFCH Pipe Clip 40mm Pack of 250 | Clip Rail UFH System Fixings | PB02911
PB02911 Pack of 250 40mm Clip WRAS Approved
The Polypipe PB02911 Standard UFCH Pipe Clip is the fixing clip used to secure 15mm or 18mm underfloor heating barrier pipe to the clip rail (CLIPRL) in the Polypipe clip rail solid floor system. Each clip is pushed through the insulation board at the clip rail positions — spacing the pipe at 200mm centres for 15mm pipe, or 200mm and 300mm centres for 18mm pipe — and holds the pipe firmly in the serpentine layout before and during screeding. Supplied in bags of 250, WRAS approved, and manufactured in accordance with BS EN ISO 9002. One bag of 250 clips covers approximately 50m² of floor area at standard pipe centres. Not suitable for use with a staple gun — hand-pressed only.
The Clip Rail System — How It Works
The Polypipe clip rail system is the traditional method of installing underfloor heating into solid or screeded floors, and is particularly favoured on renovation projects and where the lightweight nature of the clip rail — compared to the Red Floor Panel system — is advantageous for site logistics. In the clip rail system, rows of 1m clip rails (CLIPRL) are fixed across the insulation boards at 1m intervals using the PB02911 pipe clips, pushed through the clip rail openings and into the insulation. The UFH pipe is then clipped into the notches of the clip rail at the required spacing, traversing the floor in a serpentine pattern. At circuit ends, the pipe is bent through 180° within the clip notches, and PB02911 clips are additionally used to secure the pipe at bends and entry/exit points.
Key Features
- Fixes clip rail and pipe simultaneously — the clip is pushed through the clip rail body and into the insulation below, anchoring the rail flat and securing the pipe within the rail notch in a single operation
- Compatible with 15mm and 18mm pipe — the clip accommodates both standard UFH pipe sizes used in solid floor systems
- WRAS approved — the clip material is approved for contact with heating system water and components; no risk of contamination or material degradation in heating system environments
- BS EN ISO 9002 manufacture — produced under a BSI registered quality management system, ensuring consistent dimensional accuracy and clip strength across the pack
- Hand-pressed — no special tools required — clips are pressed by hand into the insulation board through the clip rail, requiring no staple gun, nail gun, or power tools; suitable for all installer experience levels
- 250-clip packs — trade quantity — sized for efficient ordering on trade installations; one pack covers approximately 50m² at standard pipe density, making quantity calculation straightforward
Installation Guide
Lay clip rails (CLIPRL) across the insulation at 1m intervals, perpendicular to the intended pipe run direction. Push PB02911 clips through the clip rail at 200mm centres to anchor each rail flat against the insulation. Continue fitting clip rails across the full floor area, leaving sufficient clearance at the room perimeter for pipe returns and circuit entry/exit tails. Lay UFH pipe from the outside of the coil into the clip rail notches at the required spacing — 200mm centres for 15mm pipe, 200mm or 300mm centres for 18mm pipe. At the end of each serpentine row, bend the pipe through 180° and use additional PB02911 clips to secure the bend radius parallel to the adjacent circuit. Run pipe tails from the circuits back to the manifold position through conduit pipe (CPC1525) to protect the pipe through the floor perimeter.
📐 Quantity Calculation
Use approximately 1m of clip rail per m² of floor area (i.e. one 1m CLIPRL per m²). Use approximately 250 pipe clips (one pack of PB02911) per 50m² of floor area. For example, a 30m² room would need approximately 30 CLIPRL clip rail lengths and approximately two-thirds of a pack of PB02911 — round up to one full pack and retain the remainder for the next project. Additional clips are needed at pipe bends — allow 10–15% extra.
