Drayton Lifestyle RFPT Wireless Programmable Room Thermostat (THD22120) โ€” 7-day wireless programmable room thermostat + SCR receiver included ย |ย  No rewiring โ€” replaces existing programmer without chasing or replastering ย |ย  Up to 6 switching periods per day ย |ย  5โ€“35ยฐC temperature range with user-settable min/max limits ย |ย  RF range 30m typically ย |ย  Thermostat powered by 2ร— AA batteries ย |ย  SCR receiver 230V 50Hz mains ย |ย  ErP Energy Class IV ย |ย  Single channel

โœ… Ideal for rented and social housing: The Lifestyle RFPT's user-settable minimum and maximum temperature limits can be locked to prevent adjustment outside the permitted range โ€” making it tamper-resistant and suitable for managed properties where occupant override needs to be controlled.

The Drayton Lifestyle RFPT is a simple, reliable wireless programmable room thermostat designed for straightforward replacement of an existing wired programmer or room thermostat โ€” without the need to chase cables through walls, replaster, or redecorate. The battery-powered thermostat communicates wirelessly with the mains-powered SCR receiver, which connects in place of the existing room thermostat or in the standard room thermostat wiring position at the programmer.

With a fully flexible 7-day schedule (THD22120), you can set a different programme for every day of the week โ€” up to 6 on/off switching periods per day โ€” matching your heating exactly to your household's routine rather than accepting the rigid 5-2 day compromise of a basic programmer. The 5-2 day variant (THD22121) is also available for simpler weekday/weekend patterns.

The built-in min/max temperature limit function allows an installer to cap the maximum setpoint and prevent the minimum from being turned down too far โ€” a practical feature for landlords, social housing providers, and vulnerable occupants who need protection from either excessively high bills or cold conditions. Both limits are set at the thermostat by an installer and are not visible or adjustable by the end user without knowing the access method.

Key Features

Wireless โ€” No Chasing RequiredThe RFPT communicates by 433MHz radio frequency between the battery-powered thermostat and the mains SCR receiver โ€” no signal wire between the two. Upgrade an existing heating system without any structural work, plasterwork or redecorating. Installation is quick and clean.
7-Day Flexible SchedulingSet a completely different heating programme for each day of the week, with up to 6 switching periods (on/off pairs) per day. Match your heating precisely to your weekly routine โ€” different start times on weekdays versus the weekend, different settings for days you work from home.
Min / Max Temperature LimitsInstaller-settable minimum and maximum temperature limits allow the thermostat's range to be constrained. When min and max are set to the same value, the thermostat operates as a fixed-temperature stat โ€” ideal for managed properties. A practical tamper-proof feature for landlords and social housing.
Complete Kit โ€” SCR Receiver IncludedSupplied as a complete kit comprising the wireless thermostat and the Lifestyle SCR (Single Channel Receiver). The SCR connects in place of the existing room thermostat wiring and provides a volt-free SPDT output rated 2(1)A 230V AC โ€” compatible with standard boiler control circuits.
Battery Powered ThermostatThe room thermostat unit is powered by 2ร— AA alkaline batteries (not included). No mains wiring to the thermostat itself โ€” place it anywhere in the room on the wall or a surface. Ideal for rented properties where the existing thermostat cable route is inconvenient or a more central location is preferred.
30m Wireless RangeTypical wireless range of 30 metres โ€” sufficient for most UK domestic properties. Range may be reduced by dense walls, reinforced concrete, or metal structures between the thermostat and receiver. The unit uses standard 433MHz radio frequency, the same band used by the wider Drayton Lifestyle product family.
ErP Compliant ยท Energy Class IVMeets ErP Energy Class IV (2%) requirements in accordance with EU regulations 811/2013 to 814/2013. Fully compliant with the Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU) and RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU). Applied standards include EN60730-1, EN60730-2-7, EN60730-2-9, EN 300 220-2, EN 301 489-3.
Surface or Conduit Box MountingThe thermostat can be mounted directly onto a wall surface using the supplied backplate and screws, or onto a standard conduit box. No standard single-gang pattress required โ€” flexible placement options throughout the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an electrician to install the Drayton RFPT?

The SCR receiver must be wired in place of the existing room thermostat connection โ€” this involves mains electrical wiring and must be carried out by a competent person in compliance with current IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671). In most cases a Gas Safe registered heating engineer will carry out this work as part of a boiler service or controls upgrade. The battery-powered thermostat itself requires no electrical connection and can be positioned by the homeowner once the SCR is installed.

Will the RFPT work with my existing Drayton programmer?

The RFPT replaces the room thermostat function in your heating system โ€” it does not replace the separate programmer (timeswitch). In a conventional system with a wired programmer and wired room thermostat, the SCR receiver is wired in place of the existing room thermostat. The RFPT then takes over room temperature control; the programmer continues to control on/off times independently (or you can use the RFPT's own schedule if the programmer is set to "continuous on"). Consult the installation guide for wiring diagrams covering common system configurations.

What is the difference between THD22120 and THD22121?

THD22120 is the 7-day model, which allows you to set a completely different heating programme for each day of the week. THD22121 is the 5-2 day model, which uses one programme for Monday to Friday and a separate programme for Saturday and Sunday. For most households, the 7-day model (THD22120) offers more flexibility, particularly if weekend routines differ significantly from weekday routines.

How do I make the thermostat tamper-proof for a rental property?

The RFPT includes a user-settable minimum and maximum temperature limit. By setting both the minimum and maximum to the same value, the thermostat operates as a fixed-temperature stat with no user adjustment possible. Alternatively, the min and max can be set to a narrow range (e.g. 18โ€“22ยฐC) to prevent extremes while still allowing occupant comfort adjustment within acceptable limits. Refer to the installation guide for the installer options access procedure.

What is the wireless range of the RFPT?

The RFPT and SCR receiver communicate over a typical range of 30 metres. This is more than sufficient for the vast majority of UK domestic properties โ€” including most detached and semi-detached houses โ€” when thermostat and receiver are on the same floor. Range can be reduced by thick stone walls, reinforced concrete, or multiple floors between the two units. If range is a concern, position the SCR receiver as centrally as possible in the property.

๐Ÿ”ง Installation Notes

The SCR receiver requires mains electrical connection and must be installed by a competent person. Key installation requirements are summarised below.

โšก SCR Electrical ConnectionThe SCR receiver connects to 230V AC 50Hz mains supply and provides a volt-free SPDT output to the boiler or zone valve. Wired connections must comply with current IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671). Fixed wiring only โ€” no plug-and-socket connections.
๐Ÿ“ก Thermostat PlacementPosition the thermostat on an internal wall, approximately 1.5m (5ft) above the floor, away from draughts, direct sunlight, heat sources and external walls. Avoid placing it behind curtains, above radiators, or in hallways. The thermostat must be able to sense representative room air temperature.
๐Ÿ”— Linking the RFPT and SCRAfter powering up both units, a wireless linking procedure must be carried out to pair the thermostat with the receiver. Refer to the installation guide (supplied) for the step-by-step linking sequence. Signal strength can be confirmed during commissioning.
๐Ÿ”‹ Battery InstallationInsert 2ร— AA alkaline batteries into the thermostat before beginning the linking procedure. Low battery indication appears on the thermostat display when replacement is needed โ€” the thermostat continues to function normally during the low-battery warning period.

Full installation, wiring and commissioning instructions are provided with the unit. Drayton's Technical Helpline is available for installer support.
