⚠️ Important — backup power requires the Sigen Energy Gateway: The EC 6.0 SP and BAT 8.0 alone provide solar self-consumption, tariff optimisation, and export. Whole-home backup power during a power cut requires the Sigen Energy Gateway (sold separately). The Gateway handles the 0ms switchover and isolates the house from the grid during an outage, allowing the battery and solar to continue powering your home. Without it, the system shuts down on grid failure per G98/G100 anti-islanding requirements.

Why does the product title say "9.0 kWh" when the part number says BAT-8.0?
This is a naming convention difference within the Sigenergy range. The battery module supplied is the SigenStor BAT 8.0, which has a nominal capacity of 8.06 kWh (7.8 kWh usable). Sigenergy and some distributors refer to this as a "9.0 kWh" battery in product titles — this likely reflects marketing rounding or naming alignment with a newer BAT 9.0 module (9.04 kWh) introduced for other markets. The part number BAT-8.0 in the SKU is the definitive reference. The actual usable storage delivered is 7.8 kWh from a single module.
Is the 6.0kW inverter right for my home?
The EC 6.0 SP is best suited to homes with larger solar arrays (typically 4kW–12kW), higher daytime consumption, or where a single EV charger may be running simultaneously with household loads. For a typical UK home with a 3–4kW solar system, the EC 3.6 SP is often sufficient and more cost-effective. The 6.0kW rating means more solar power can be converted and more stored energy can be discharged simultaneously — notably, the backup peak output of 9,000W (vs 5,520W for the 3.6 SP) also provides more headroom for running large appliances during a power cut.
Can I add more batteries to this system later?
Yes — this is one of SigenStor's core strengths. The EC 6.0 SP supports 1 to 6 battery modules, so you can add up to 5 more BAT modules over time, reaching up to 48.36 kWh with BAT 8.0 modules. No inverter changes are required. Modules can also be mixed (BAT 5.0, 6.0, and 8.0), with the per-module battery optimiser managing any differences in age or capacity. Each additional module simply stacks beneath the existing stack.
Does this system qualify for any UK incentives?
Battery storage (when installed alongside or connected to solar panels) qualifies for 0% VAT under the UK's Energy Saving Materials scheme. The system itself does not receive a direct grant, but it enables significantly higher self-consumption of solar-generated electricity, reducing bills. The mySigen app tracks import/export for Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) submissions. Your MCS-certified installer will register the system with the DNO using the G98/G100 certificates provided by Sigenergy.
