⚠️ Important — backup power requires the Sigen Energy Gateway: The EC 3.6 SP inverter and BAT 6.0 batteries alone provide solar self-consumption, tariff optimisation, and export — but whole-home backup power during a power cut requires the Sigen Energy Gateway (sold separately). Without it, the system will shut down on grid failure in accordance with G98/G100 anti-islanding regulations.

FAQs

Do I need solar panels to use this system?

No — the SigenStor can operate as a standalone battery storage system, charging from the grid during cheap off-peak periods (such as Octopus Go or Economy 7) and discharging during peak rate periods to reduce your electricity bills. Solar panels enhance savings further by allowing free solar energy to be stored and used at night, but are not required for the system to function. If you add solar later, the system is fully ready — just connect PV strings to the two MPPT inputs on the Energy Controller.

Can I add more batteries later?

Yes. The SigenStor platform is designed for incremental expansion. This package comes with 2 × BAT 6.0 modules, and you can add up to 4 more to the same tower — up to 6 modules total per Energy Controller. Batteries can also be mixed (BAT 5.0, 6.0, or 8.0 kWh modules), with Sigenergy's per-module optimizer managing the differences in capacity and state of charge. No rewiring of the inverter is needed to add batteries.

How does this compare to the Tesla Powerwall 3?
