Samsung Cascade Controller
The Samsung Cascade Controller (MCM‑D3E0N) is a central touchscreen controller for managing cascades of multiple Samsung EHS air‑to‑water heat pumps, using advanced logic to optimise capacity, efficiency and system integration.
Core Function
- Purpose: Main cascade controller for Samsung EHS Mono heat pumps, including current R290 and R32 HT Quiet models, allowing them to operate together as a coordinated multi‑unit system.
- Capacity: Controls up to 8 outdoor units in a single cascade, giving up to around 128 kW total output depending on the selected unit sizes.
- System requirement: One MCM‑D3E0N per cascade, with a dedicated control kit (such as MIM‑E03GN) required for each connected outdoor unit.
Key Features
- 7″ colour touchscreen: Integrated animated display with an AI‑Home style user interface for live status, trend graphs and installer configuration menus.
- Broad compatibility: Works with the full EHS Mono portfolio, including R290 Mono, R32 Mono HT Quiet and other supported mono models when paired with the correct control accessories.
- Automatic cascade logic: Balances run hours by starting units with the lowest operating hours and stopping those with the highest, improving efficiency and spreading wear evenly.
Control & Integration
- Heating, cooling & DHW: Controls heating, cooling and domestic hot water functions, including operation of common three‑port valves and priority logic for DHW production.
- Two heating zones: Supports two independently controlled heating zones with separate setpoints and operating modes (for example underfloor heating and radiators).
- Connectivity: Provides Modbus support for BMS integration and is compatible with Samsung EHS Cloud and SmartThings (from applicable firmware versions) for remote supervision and smart‑home linkage.
System Design Notes
- Hydraulic design: Intended for cascades built with reverse‑return hydraulic layouts and appropriate check or constant‑flow valves to ensure balanced flow through all units.
- Scope of use: Designed for Samsung EHS Mono outdoor units; ClimateHub and separate Hydro Units are not used as cascade elements with this controller.
- Additional controllers: Can be combined with local room controls such as Samsung MWR‑WW10N or remote AI Home displays using suitable extension wiring kits.
