Hive TRV003 Smart White Thermostatic Radiator Valve Head Single
The Hive TRV003 Smart Thermostatic Radiator Valve Head gives you app-controlled, room-by-room temperature management for one radiator — or lets you add a further smart-controlled radiator to an existing Hive system. It screws onto a standard 15 mm TRV valve body (adaptors for M30 and Danfoss RA included) with no draining, no pipe work and no tools beyond a hand grip, and joins the home's Hive Zigbee mesh automatically once paired via the app.
The built-in electronic temperature sensor measures the actual room temperature and drives the valve motor to maintain the target — adjustable from 0 to 40 °C in 0.5 °C steps via the digital display or the Hive app. Open Window Detection automatically reduces heating when a rapid temperature drop suggests a window has been opened. With the Heat On Demand feature enabled in the app (requires a Hive Active Heating thermostat), the TRV003 can call the boiler when a room needs heat — even if the main schedule hasn't started.
Set an independent temperature and schedule for this radiator — different from the main thermostat, different from every other room. Bedroom at 16 °C at night, home office at 20 °C during work hours — precise control where you want it.
Monitors the rate of temperature change in the room. A rapid drop triggers the TRV003 to automatically reduce the setpoint, preventing wasted heat when a window is open, then restoring the scheduled temperature when the room stabilises.
Enabled via the Hive app when paired with a Hive Active Heating thermostat, Heat On Demand lets the TRV003 turn the boiler on when the room needs heat — not just regulate flow from heat that's already being generated.
Build a personalised weekly schedule for this radiator via the Hive app. Adjust remotely from anywhere — no need to be in the room or even in the house.
Unscrew the old TRV head and screw on the TRV003. Includes M30 and Danfoss RA adaptors for compatibility with the most common UK valve bodies. No draining, no pipe work.
The built-in electronic temperature sensor measures actual room temperature — more accurate than the wax-element sensors in traditional TRVs. The digital display shows the current setpoint; twist the top ring to adjust manually.

Does it work without a Hive heating thermostat?
Yes — the TRV003 works on any system with plumbed radiators and TRV valve bodies. Without a Hive thermostat it can control flow to that individual radiator while the boiler is on. Heat On Demand (TRV triggers the boiler) requires a Hive Active Heating thermostat enabled in the Hive app.
What valve body does my radiator have?
The most common UK sizes are M30 (30 mm thread) and Danfoss RA. Both adaptors are included in the pack. The TRV003 also fits the standard 15 mm TRV bodies directly. If you are unsure, photograph the existing head before removing it and check Hive's installation guide at hivehome.com/thermostat-guide.
Can I fit it in the same room as my main thermostat?
Hive recommends against fitting a TRV003 on any radiator in the same room as the main thermostat. Both devices will try to govern temperature independently, which can result in conflicting demands and the heating staying on permanently. Leave the TRV in that room at maximum and let the thermostat govern it.
How do I adjust the temperature locally?
Twist the top ring of the TRV003 to raise or lower the setpoint displayed on the digital screen — no phone or hub needed for a local manual override. The next scheduled event will restore the programmed temperature.
