Eleven Energy Galvani Stackable Battery Base and Junction Box – Required per Stack, 35mm² Cable, RS485, IP65

The Eleven Energy Galvani Stackable Battery Base and Junction Box is the required electrical and structural base unit for every Galvani battery stack. One set must be ordered for each stack of up to 4 Galvani ELB-4.5-02 battery modules — it is not included with the battery modules and must be ordered separately. The Junction Box houses the stack circuit breaker, the main DC busbar connecting all modules to the inverter, and the RS485/CAN communication interface. It comes with a pre-installed 35mm² power cable set (2m) — rated for up to 200A — ready to connect directly to the Eleven Energy Hybrid Inverter's battery terminals. The accessory box includes all hardware for installation: data cable, waterproof glands, grounding cable, wall brackets and fixings. The Battery Base (640 × 80 × 250mm) with four M12 adjustable feet provides a stable, level foundation for the stack. IP65 rated throughout.

⚠ Inverter Compatibility: This Base and Junction Box is designed for use with Eleven Energy Galvani ELB-4.5-02 battery modules and Eleven Energy Hybrid Inverters only. It is not compatible with battery modules or inverters from other manufacturers.
ℹ Installation: Must be installed by a qualified electrician accredited for battery storage systems, in accordance with BS 7671 (18th Edition). An earth bond must be installed between the battery stack and the inverter. Do not connect battery cables while the inverter is energised. The mounting wall must be fire-resistant with a minimum thickness of 100mm.
Key Features
One Junction Box Required per Stack — the Electrical Hub of the System
The Junction Box is the mandatory electrical centre for every Galvani battery stack. It provides the main busbar connecting all battery modules in a stack to the inverter, houses the integrated circuit breaker for the entire stack, and routes the RS485/CAN communication cable between the battery modules and the Eleven Energy hybrid inverter. A single Junction Box supports up to 4 Galvani battery modules (18 kWh per stack). One Junction Box is required per stack — it cannot be shared across multiple stacks.
Required per stackUp to 4 modules18 kWh max
Pre-Installed 35mm² Power Cable — Ready to Connect to Inverter
The Junction Box comes with a factory-fitted 35mm² inverter-battery power cable set (2 metres) — the positive and negative DC power leads that connect the battery stack to the inverter's battery terminals. Positive and negative cables must be connected to corresponding terminals on the inverter with a locking torque of 3.5 N·m. The large 35mm² cross-section is sized to carry the full 200A multi-module discharge current without voltage drop or thermal issues.

Battery Base — Floor-Standing Stability and Levelling
The Battery Base (640 × 80 × 250mm, 6 kg) is included with the Junction Box and forms the structural foundation of the battery stack. Four M12 adjustable feet allow the stack to be levelled on uneven floors. The base locates the bottom battery module securely and sets the stack at the correct height for cable routing through the Junction Box. Four M6 expansion bolts (80mm) and wall mount brackets are provided for securing the stack to the wall for anti-tip stability.

Built-In Circuit Breaker — Stack-Level Overcurrent Protection
The Junction Box incorporates an integrated circuit breaker that protects the entire stack. At startup, the inverter-battery power cable is connected first with the circuit breaker in the OFF position; each battery module is then individually switched on via its ON/OFF button, and only once all modules are running is the Junction Box circuit breaker moved to ON. Shutdown follows the reverse sequence — circuit breaker first, then individual modules. This sequenced operation protects both the inverter and the battery modules.

RS485/CAN Communication — Data Cable and Waterproof Glands Included
The accessory box includes a 2m data cable for connecting the Junction Box RS485/CAN communication port to the Eleven Energy inverter's battery communication interface. Three waterproof glands are included for sealing the data cable entry points — essential for maintaining the IP65 rating of the installation in outdoor settings. Any unused RS485 IN or OUT ports must have their caps fitted and tightened.

Grounding Cable Included — Earth Bond to Inverter
A 12 AWG (2m) grounding cable is included in the accessory box. The installation manual requires an earth bond between the battery stack and the inverter. The grounding cable connects from the GND terminal on the Junction Box to the inverter's earth/grounding point. This is a safety-critical connection and must not be omitted.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Junction Box and Base included with each battery module?
No — the Junction Box and Base are sold separately as this product. You need one Junction Box and Base per stack, regardless of how many battery modules are in the stack (1 to 4 modules). If you are installing two separate stacks, you need two Junction Box and Base sets.
What cables and accessories are included in the box?
The Junction Box ships with a pre-installed 35mm² power cable set (2m) connecting the busbar to the inverter. The accessory box includes: 1× 2m RS485/CAN data cable, 3× waterproof glands, 1× 12 AWG grounding cable (2m), 4 sets of wall mount brackets, 2× battery interlink brackets, 4× M12 adjustable feet, 4× M6 expansion bolts, 4× M5 hex screws and 12× M5 flat head screws. All hardware for a standard wall-mounted stack installation is included.
What is the correct startup sequence?
1. Ensure the Junction Box circuit breaker is in the OFF position and the inverter is off. 2. Connect the positive and negative power cables from the Junction Box to the inverter terminals (3.5 N·m torque). 3. Press the ON/OFF button on each battery module to start each module — wait for the status indicator LEDs to illuminate before proceeding. 4. Move the Junction Box circuit breaker to ON. Shutdown is the reverse: circuit breaker OFF first, then individual module buttons. Never connect or disconnect battery cables while the inverter is energised.
Can the 2m power cable be extended?
The pre-installed 35mm² power cables are 2m long, which suits the majority of installations where the battery stack and inverter are in the same room or adjacent. For longer runs, consult Eleven Energy's technical team — the cable cross-section must be maintained or increased to support the 200A maximum current without excessive voltage drop. Always ensure cable runs comply with BS 7671.
What happens if the ALM indicator light comes on?
A constantly illuminated ALM (alarm) indicator light signals an abnormal condition in the battery pack — over-temperature, over-current, short circuit or reversed polarity. If this occurs: move the Junction Box circuit breaker to OFF, then press the ON/OFF button on each affected module to shut down, and contact Eleven Energy immediately before attempting to restart. In the event of fire, only dry powder fire extinguishers should be used.
