Sigenergy Sigen Power Sensor | Single Phase External CT 120A | DIN Rail | RS485 | Solar Import/Export Monitoring
Single Phase 1 × 120A CT Included ±1% Accuracy Part No: SIG-SENSOR-SP-CT-DH
The Sigenergy Power Sensor SP-CT-DH is a single-phase energy metering device that connects via RS485 to any compatible Sigenergy inverter or energy controller, giving the SigenStor EMS real-time, high-accuracy visibility of grid import and export. This external CT variant uses a split-core current transformer that clips around the existing main live conductor — no disconnection of live wiring required during installation. One 120A split-core CT with a 1m cable is included in the box. It is the recommended single-phase metering solution for installs where the main incoming cable cannot be routed through the sensor body, or where the incomer is too large for a direct-connection sensor.
What the Power Sensor Enables
Positioned at the grid connection point, the Power Sensor feeds live import/export data to the Energy Controller every 100ms via RS485 Modbus RTU. This measurement underpins the full range of SigenStor intelligent energy management features:
- Dynamic load management — throttles inverter output in real time to prevent main fuse overload
- Solar surplus EV charging (Solar Boost, 100% PV, PV Storage & Charging modes) on the Sigen EV AC Charger
- Export limitation — caps grid export for DNO / G98 compliance
- Import limitation — prevents grid draw exceeding a set threshold
- Self-consumption optimisation — battery charges/discharges to minimise import
- AI tariff scheduling — real consumption data feeds the mySigen AI energy optimiser
- Accurate mySigen app energy flow display — grid, solar, battery and household load
- Anti-backflow protection when used with the Sigen Energy Gateway
⚠️ Required for key functions: Dynamic load management and all solar-priority EV charging modes on the Sigen EV AC Charger require a Power Sensor. Without it, the SigenStor system has no visibility of household consumption and cannot prevent overload or optimise EV charging against solar surplus.

FAQs
Should I choose this (SP-CT-DH) or the direct-connection sensor (SP-DH)?
If the main incoming live cable can physically pass through the sensor body, the direct-connection SP-DH gives a slightly tidier, single-component installation with no separate CT to manage. The SP-CT-DH (this product) is the better choice when the cable cannot be rerouted, when it is larger than the sensor body's aperture will accept, or when you are retrofitting to an existing installation and want to avoid any disconnection of live wiring. Both variants deliver identical measurement performance.
Is the 120A CT suitable for my installation?
Most UK single-phase residential supplies are rated at 60A, 80A or 100A at the DNO cutout fuse. The 120A CT in this product comfortably covers all of these. If you have an unusually large single-phase supply exceeding 120A, contact Sigenergy or your distributor — a higher-rated CT may be available as an accessory. For three-phase installations, see the TP variant range.
Where exactly does the CT get installed?
The CT clips around the incoming main live conductor at the grid side of the installation — typically on the service tails between the DNO cutout fuse and the main switch in the consumer unit. It must be positioned to measure total grid import and export, on the grid side of the inverter connection point. The 1m CT cable runs back to the sensor body, which mounts on the DIN rail in the consumer unit.
