Shelly Pro EM-50 DIN Rail 50A Energy Monitor
Shelly Pro EM-50 DIN Rail 50A Energy Monitor is a two-channel, single-phase energy meter designed for DIN rail mounting. It combines accurate power and energy monitoring with an integrated dry-contact relay, making it ideal for managing and automating loads in modern PV and smart-home installations.
Key Features
- Two-channel single-phase metering – measures two independent circuits on the same phase, ideal for tracking PV generation and household consumption or two key loads.
- Integrated relay with dry contacts – built-in relay output for controlling a contactor or external device based on measured power or automation logic.
- LAN, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity – multiple communication options for secure, reliable integration into networks and smart-home systems.
- Real-time monitoring – reports instantaneous voltage, current, active power and apparent power per channel, as well as accumulated energy.
- 4-quadrant measurement – measures import and export power, reactive power and energy, with optical LED pulse indication of energy usage; ideal for photovoltaic applications.
- Accuracy Class B – complies with IEC 62053-21 Class B accuracy for reliable metering.
- Local data storage – stores data in non-volatile memory for up to 60 days in 1-minute intervals, even without cloud connectivity.
- No hub required – can be controlled directly via the Shelly Smart Control app and works with common home automation platforms and voice assistants.
Monitoring & Communication
- Measured parameters: voltage, current, active power, apparent power and accumulated energy per channel.
- Connectivity: Ethernet (LAN), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for flexible integration.
- Smart-home integration: compatible with Alexa, Home Assistant and other systems via open protocols.
- Protocols & APIs: supports scripting, web hooks, MQTT, WebSocket, HTTPS, UDP, TLS, custom certificates and Modbus TCP.
Hardware & Installation
- Mounting: DIN rail mountable for neat installation in consumer units and distribution boards.
- Current rating: 50A per measurement channel (with appropriate current transformers or direct measurement, as specified by the manufacturer).
- Relay output: dry-contact relay suitable for driving contactors to switch larger loads.
- PV-ready design: suitable for monitoring PV systems, including import/export and key loads like EV chargers or immersion heaters.
Typical Applications
- Monitoring household consumption and PV generation on two separate circuits.
- Controlling large loads (via contactors) such as immersion heaters, EV chargers or heat pumps based on measured power or tariffs.
- Integrating detailed energy monitoring into smart-home platforms without needing a separate hub.
