It differs from push-fit in that the adaptor engages with the male thread before the pipe is pushed in — providing a more robust and auditable connection.

Can I use this manifold with 12mm Overlay pipe?

Yes, but you will need to purchase UFH12EC EuroCone adaptor packs separately. Each pack contains 2 adaptors, so you need one pack per port (e.g. a 4-port manifold needs 2 packs of UFH12EC). The adaptors fit onto the G¾" port and convert the connection to accept 12mm pipe as used in the Polypipe Overlay and Overlay Lite systems.

Do I need a larger manifold if I have a larger room?

Not necessarily — the port count is determined by the number of separate pipe circuits, not room size. A single large room may require two or more pipe circuits (and therefore two or more ports) depending on the floor area, pipe spacing, and design heat loss. Conversely, a small room may be served by a single circuit on a single port. Always base port count on your UFH system design plan, not on room count alone.

Why does this manifold not come with isolation valves?

Isolation valves for the supply connections are sold and specified separately because there are different valve types suitable for different installation configurations (e.g. with or without a blending valve unit, with or without a pump). Polypipe supply a range of compatible isolation valve assemblies and pump/blending stations to suit different system designs, and including one type as standard would not suit all installations. Your UFH installer or system designer will specify the correct valve assembly for your configuration.

Can two smaller manifolds be used instead of one large one?

Yes — in larger systems it is common practice to use two manifolds in different locations (e.g. one manifold per floor of a property) rather than running all circuits to a single central manifold. This reduces pipe run lengths and is often more practical. Polypipe also supplies an extension bar (UFHECEXT) to join two manifold bodies together if required.
