HeatBoard ONE PLUS 1200×600×22mm Foiled Grooved Chipboard UFH Panel – Higher Output, Direct to Joists, Easy Lay

The HeatBoard ONE PLUS is a 22mm foil-coated flooring-grade chipboard underfloor heating panel — the higher-output variant of the standard HeatBoard ONE, with the entire top surface covered in aluminium foil to reflect heat from the pipe upward rather than allowing it to disperse sideways through the board. The foil delivers a meaningfully higher heat output and faster warm-up time than the non-foiled ONE from the same pipe at the same flow temperature, making it particularly well-suited to heat pump installations and any project where output at lower flow temperatures matters. Structurally identical to the standard ONE: 1,200 × 600mm, 4 pre-routed grooves at 150mm centres for 12mm pipe, tongue and groove all four edges, installs directly onto joists at up to 600mm centres replacing the standard floor deck. Dry system — no screed, no curing time. Minimum order: 22 boards (15.84m²).

★ This product. All chipboard systems use 12mm pipe at 150mm centres on joists up to 600mm.

ℹ Installation: Joists must be structurally sound, level and at maximum 600mm centres. Lay pipe in the pre-routed grooves with no underfloor joints. Pressure-test all pipework before laying any overlay or floor finish. For tile finishes, the ThermRite 6mm fibre cement cover board is required over this panel.
Key Features
Fully Foiled Board — Higher Heat Output Than the Standard ONE
The HeatBoard ONE PLUS is the foil-coated variant of the standard HeatBoard ONE. Structurally identical — 22mm flooring-grade chipboard, tongue and groove all round, 4 grooves at 150mm centres for 12mm pipe — but with the entire top surface covered in an aluminium foil layer. The foil reflects heat generated by the pipe upward rather than letting it dissipate sideways through the chipboard. The result is a meaningfully higher proportion of the pipe's heat output reaching the floor surface above, and a faster warm-up time compared with the non-foiled ONE.
Full aluminium foilHigher output vs standard ONEFaster warm-up
Replaces the Standard Floor Deck — Installs Directly onto Joists
Like all HeatBoard ONE variants, the ONE PLUS is a load-bearing structural panel that installs directly onto floor joists at up to 600mm centres. It replaces the conventional 22mm chipboard or plywood floor deck entirely — the heating system is built into the floor construction rather than added on top of it. This keeps the floor build-up to just 22mm above joist level (excluding any overlay), making it suitable for both new build and renovation projects where floor height matters.
Direct to joistsReplaces floor deckMax 600mm joist centres
4 Pre-Routed Grooves at 150mm Centres for 12mm Pipe
Each 1,200 × 600mm board contains 4 pre-routed pipe channels at 150mm centres, sized for 12mm underfloor heating pipe. The 150mm pipe spacing is the standard for residential UFH in well-insulated homes insulated to current UK Building Regulations. The grooves incorporate turns at both ends of each board, enabling the pipe to loop back and forward across the room in a serpentine pattern without additional bends or fittings.
4 grooves at 150mm12mm pipeBuilt-in end turns
Tongue and Groove All Round — Rigid Interlocking Floor Deck
All four edges of the board are tongue and grooved, locking each panel to its neighbours on both long and short sides. This creates a rigid, continuous floor deck with no movement between adjacent boards, preventing squeaking, reducing deflection at joints under foot traffic, and providing a flat, stable base for floor finishes.
T&G all four edgesRigid interlockingNo joint movement
Easy Lay — 1,200mm Length for Easier Handling Upstairs and in Confined Spaces
The 1,200mm length of the ONE PLUS makes it significantly easier to handle than the 2,400mm MAX PLUS variant — particularly on stairways, through doorways and in upper-floor rooms where carrying full-length sheets is impractical. Lighter individual boards also reduce fatigue during solo installation. Coverage is 0.72m² per board.
1200mm Easy Lay0.72m² per boardSingle-person handle
No Screed, No Curing Time — Dry Installation
The ONE PLUS is a dry-fit system. No screed is poured, no levelling compound is required and there is no curing or drying period before the floor finish can be applied. Once the boards are laid and the pipe is in the grooves, installation can continue immediately — a significant programme advantage for retrofit projects and renovations where rooms must be returned to use quickly.
Dry systemNo screedNo curing wait
Compatible with Heat Pumps and Low-Temperature Heating Systems
The foil layer's improved heat transfer means the ONE PLUS delivers effective floor output at lower flow temperatures than the non-foiled ONE. This makes it well-suited to air source and ground source heat pump installations operating at 35–45°C, where maximising output at lower temperatures is essential to system efficiency.
Heat pump compatibleLow-temp efficient35–45°C flow temp
No Aluminium Plates — Choose ULTRA for Maximum Output
The ONE PLUS relies on the foil coating for improved heat spread — it does not include aluminium heat-diffusion plates in the grooves. For the highest possible heat output and fastest warm-up times, particularly in large open-plan spaces or rooms with high heat loss, HeatBoard ULTRA (with aluminium diffusion plates) is the appropriate choice. The ONE PLUS sits between the standard ONE and ULTRA in both cost and performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between HeatBoard ONE and ONE PLUS?
The ONE PLUS is identical to the standard HeatBoard ONE in every structural and dimensional respect — same 22mm chipboard, same 1,200 × 600mm size, same 4 grooves at 150mm centres, same tongue-and-groove all round. The sole difference is that the ONE PLUS has the full top surface covered in aluminium foil. This foil reflects heat from the pipe upward more effectively, giving a higher proportion of heat output reaching the floor above, and a faster warm-up time. Choose ONE PLUS where improved response time and output are worth the marginal extra cost.
Do I still need a cover board over the ONE PLUS?
It depends on your floor finish. For engineered wood, LVT, carpet or laminate, the foiled ONE PLUS surface provides a suitable substrate and no cover board is needed. For ceramic or porcelain tiles, the ThermRite 6mm fibre cement cover board should still be applied over the ONE PLUS — tile adhesive requires a stable, non-absorbent cement-based substrate for a reliable long-term bond, which chipboard alone does not provide.
What is the minimum order?
The minimum order is 22 boards, covering 15.84m². If your project requires less than 22 boards' worth of area, the minimum order still applies.
Should I choose ONE PLUS or HeatBoard Fusion?
The key distinction is how you want to handle the floor deck. ONE PLUS is a single foiled chipboard panel — install it on your joists, route the pipe, then add an overlay if needed. HeatBoard Fusion is a two-part system (22mm P6 chipboard + 6mm foil-backed fibre board cover) supplied as a matched pair — the cover board is integrated into the product specification rather than purchased separately. Fusion uses the higher P6 chipboard grade and includes printed pipe-fixing guides on the cover board. ONE PLUS is the more cost-effective single-panel option; Fusion is the higher-spec two-part system.
Can ONE PLUS be used with a heat pump?
Yes — the foil coating improves heat output at lower flow temperatures, making ONE PLUS better matched to heat pump installations (35–45°C flow) than the standard non-foiled ONE. For maximum heat pump compatibility, ensure the full system — pipe sizing, manifold, mixing valve, floor finish and insulation below the joists — is designed for low-temperature operation.
