The Harlequin HeatStream 210 Direct (model HS210E) is a 210-litre open-vented electric thermal store built to supply mains-pressurised hot water to larger flats, apartments, and electrically heated homes. Sharing the same proven open-vented architecture as the 150-litre model, it is not subject to Part G of the Building Regulations and requires no G3 qualification for installation — yet delivers a substantially higher hot water output suited to households with heavier demand. With an ErP 'B' energy rating, a standing heat loss of just 1.24 kWh/day, and the same space-efficient 520 × 520 mm square footprint, the HS210E is the natural choice where a larger reserve is required without a larger floor area.
The open-vented thermal store principle means no G3-qualified engineer, no expansion vessel and no T&P relief valve. Any competent heating engineer can install and commission the HS210E.
Fitted with a 3 kW + 3 kW dual-element immersion heater. The short boost element provides 50 litres of hot water within 20 minutes, covering sudden demand spikes while the long element brings the full store up to temperature overnight.
The 210-litre thermal mass is ideal for storing solar PV surplus or overnight off-peak electricity. A fully heated store at 70°C can yield up to 281 litres of blended hot water — maximising the value of every cheap unit consumed.
Despite the larger capacity, the 520 × 520 mm base is unchanged. The HS210E is 1,650 mm tall — the extra height being the only dimensional difference from the 150-litre model. It still passes through a standard doorway.
Polyethylene outer shell for transport resilience; polypropylene inner tank immune to corrosion in hard or aggressive water; stainless steel corrugated coils for high-efficiency heat transfer across the full 202-litre volume.
All pipework connections are located on the top of the unit, making installation neat and accessible. Ongoing maintenance is simply a 6-monthly water level top-up — no annual safety inspection is mandatory.
A thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) is supplied and pre-set to 45°C for safe delivery temperatures. The long immersion element can raise the full store to pasteurisation temperature when required, reducing Legionella risk.
Ideal for larger flats, apartments, houses and bungalows. The overfill can run to an external pipe or to an internal low-temperature waste. Where neither is practical, the SOJ internal overfill variant eliminates any external connection requirement.
