ENGO EONE-BATW ZigBee Smart Thermostat – Wireless, Li-Ion Battery, Humidity Sensor, White | UFH & Boiler Control
ZigBee 3.0 Rechargeable Li-Ion — USB-C No Wiring Required Humidity Sensor Built-In Alexa & Google 5-Year Warranty
The ENGO EONE-BATW is a wireless ZigBee 3.0 smart thermostat in white — surface-mounted and powered by a built-in rechargeable 3.7V lithium-ion battery (charged via USB-C). No mains wiring is required at the thermostat position, making it the most flexible option for retrofit installations, rented properties, or anywhere running cable to the wall is impractical. It features a smartphone-inspired large LCD display with side buttons, a built-in humidity sensor, TPI control algorithm, and full app and voice control via the EGATE-PRO gateway. Ideal for wet underfloor heating, boiler control, and heat pump systems.
Unlike conventional battery thermostats that need periodic AA or AAA replacement, the EONE-BATW uses a built-in 3.7V Li-Ion cell that recharges via USB-C — the same connector as most modern smartphones. This means no hunting for batteries, no disposables, and no interruption to heating control when the battery runs flat. Simply plug in a USB-C cable (not included) to top up the charge, and the thermostat continues to operate.

About the EONE-BATW
The ENGO ONE series represents ENGO's flagship thermostat design — a smartphone-inspired form factor with a large, legible LCD display and function buttons on the side rather than the face, giving a clean, minimal front appearance. The EONE-BATW is the surface-mounted, battery-powered version: at just 14 mm deep, it sits flat on the wall without a flush back box, or can stand freely on a shelf using the included stand. It is the wireless counterpart to the EONE-230W, which is flush-mounted and mains-powered.
The EONE-BATW supports ENGO Binding — a direct ZigBee link between the thermostat and a compatible receiver (ECB62-ZB control box, EMOD-ZB relay, or EREL-12ZB relay). Once bound, the thermostat controls its zone directly without needing the gateway or an internet connection. This means heating remains fully operational even during broadband outages or gateway failures — critical reliability for a primary heating control device.
The thermostat connects to the ENGO Smart ecosystem via the EGATE-PRO (or EGATEZB) ZigBee gateway, which is required for app control, remote access, scheduling, and voice assistant integration. Once paired, the ENGO Smart app (powered by Tuya Cloud) provides full remote control from any smartphone — including 7-day scheduling, temperature history graphs, multi-user access sharing, and push notifications for temperature alerts.
The built-in humidity sensor provides real-time relative humidity readings alongside room temperature — displayed on the thermostat and viewable in the app. While the EONE-BATW does not control humidity directly, the data helps identify rooms at risk of condensation and can be used to trigger automations in the ENGO Smart app (for example, alerting when humidity exceeds a set threshold).
An optional ENGO EFS300 floor temperature sensor can be connected to the S1/COM terminals, enabling floor overheating protection and the "comfortable floor" mode — keeping the floor at a minimum warmth even when the room air temperature setpoint has been reached. This is particularly valuable in bathrooms, wet rooms, and rooms with laminate or engineered wood flooring.

Installation & Compatibility Notes
The EONE-BATW mounts on the wall surface using the supplied fixings — no flush back box is needed. Alternatively, use the included desk stand to position it on a shelf or worktop. No mains wiring is required at the thermostat location. The thermostat communicates wirelessly via ZigBee 3.0 to the EGATE-PRO gateway and from there to the ENGO Smart app. For direct heating control without app dependency, bind it to a compatible receiver (ECB62-ZB, EMOD-ZB, or EREL-12ZB) using the ENGO Binding procedure.
The thermostat does not have its own switching output — it sends a ZigBee signal to the bound receiver, which switches the heating load. For UFH systems, pair with the ECB62-ZB wireless control box; for single-zone boiler or electric heating control, pair with the EMOD-ZB mini relay module or EREL-12ZB relay. A ZigBee gateway (EGATE-PRO or EGATEZB) is required for pairing and for any cloud/app features — it cannot pair directly without a gateway.
Charge the built-in Li-Ion battery via any standard USB-C charger or power bank. Battery life will depend on the ZigBee transmission frequency and backlight usage — typical usage provides several weeks to months between charges. Mount the thermostat away from direct sunlight, draughts, external walls, and heat sources for the most accurate temperature readings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a ZigBee gateway?
Yes — a ZigBee gateway (ENGO EGATE-PRO or EGATEZB) is required to add the EONE-BATW to your network and access any app or voice control features. However, once paired and bound to a receiver, the thermostat can continue to control heating offline (without internet) via ENGO Binding.
What receiver/relay does this thermostat need?
The EONE-BATW pairs with the ECB62-ZB wireless UFH control box (for multi-zone underfloor heating), the EMOD-ZB mini relay module, or the EREL-12ZB relay (for single-zone boiler or heating control). The receiver is what actually switches the heating load — the thermostat only sends the ZigBee signal.
What is the difference between EONE-BATW and EONE-230W?
Both are ENGO ONE thermostats with identical functionality and ZigBee 3.0 communication. The EONE-BATW is surface-mounted and battery-powered (no mains wiring at the thermostat) — maximum flexibility for positioning. The EONE-230W is flush-mounted and mains-powered (230V AC) — it has a physical switching output (COM/NO) for direct wired connection to a receiver, wiring centre, or control box.
Can it work without the internet?
Yes — via ENGO Binding. Once bound to a compatible receiver, the thermostat controls heating directly over ZigBee without needing the gateway or internet. App features, remote control, and voice assistants require the gateway and an internet connection.
Does it measure humidity?
Yes — there is a built-in humidity sensor that provides room relative humidity readings on the display and in the ENGO Smart app. It is for monitoring only; the thermostat does not control humidity directly.
Is the USB-C charger included?
No — a USB-C cable and charger are not included. Any standard USB-C charger or cable (as used for Android phones) will work.
