10ms Emergency Power Supply — Seamless Backup
In the event of a grid outage, the Dura-i switches to backup power in just 10ms (typical) — fast enough to be imperceptible to most home appliances, including computers and sensitive electronics. The backup output matches nominal grid parameters (230V / 50Hz) and supports the full rated inverter output, enabling the home to run normally from battery storage during outages.
Dura5 Battery Compatible — 20% Faster Charge/Discharge
Optimised for the Dura5 LiFePO4 battery, the Dura-i charges and discharges the battery 20% faster than other hybrid inverters, maximising the benefit of the Dura5's 1C rating. The lithium charge curve is self-adaptive via the BMS communication link (CAN/RS485), ensuring optimal charging at every state of charge without manual configuration.
Integrated Smart Meter — No External Energy Meter Needed
A built-in energy meter measures import, export and self-consumption directly — eliminating the need for a separate external remote energy meter (REM). This reduces installation cost, wiring complexity and potential points of failure, while still providing full energy monitoring data through the Duracell Energy app.
Modular — Up to 9 Inverters in Parallel
Multiple Dura-i units can be connected in parallel (up to 9 inverters), enabling system scaling for larger homes, commercial premises or properties with high energy demand. The Dura-i is compatible with market-leading solar panel optimisers (such as SolarEdge Power Optimisers and Tigo). IP65 — Indoor and Outdoor Installation

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a hybrid inverter do that a standard solar inverter doesn't?
A standard solar (string) inverter converts DC from solar panels to AC for the home but cannot communicate with or manage a battery. A hybrid inverter adds a second DC port for a battery, along with the BMS communication link, charge/discharge control and grid/battery arbitrage logic. This means one unit manages solar generation, battery charging, grid import/export and backup power — replacing what would otherwise require two separate inverters.
Do I need solar panels to use the Dura-i?
No. The Dura-i can operate as a battery inverter only — without any solar panels connected — charging the Dura5 battery from the grid during cheap off-peak hours and discharging during expensive peak periods. Because the Dura-i is a hybrid inverter, solar panels can be added to the system at any point in the future without replacing the inverter.
What is the difference between G98 and G99?
G98 and G99 are UK grid connection standards. G98 applies to export-capable inverters up to 3.68 kW — installation requires notification to the DNO but no formal application or approval. G99 applies to systems above 3.68 kW — a formal application to the DNO is required, which can add several weeks to the installation timeline. The 3.6 kW Dura-i falls under G98 (notification only), while the 4.6 kW, 5 kW and 6 kW models require a G99 application.
How many Dura5 batteries can I connect to one Dura-i?
The Dura-i communicates with the Dura5 BMS and manages the battery bank as a single entity. The number of Dura5 units that can be connected is determined by the inverter's maximum charge/discharge current and the total battery capacity — your installer will calculate the optimal configuration. Up to 32 Dura5 modules can operate in a parallel battery bank; multiple Dura-i units (up to 9 in parallel) can be used to increase both AC output and battery throughput for larger systems.
Can the Dura-i run the home during a power cut?
Yes. The Dura-i has an Emergency Power Supply (EPS / backup) output that activates within 10ms of a grid outage — fast enough that most appliances continue running uninterrupted. The backup output delivers 230V / 50Hz at the full rated power of the inverter, sourced from the connected Dura5 battery. The home will continue operating from battery storage until the battery is depleted or the grid is restored.
