Baxi uSense 2 Gateway & Power Adapter Kit

Baxi uSense 2 Gateway & Power Adapter Kit

The Baxi uSense 2 Gateway & Power Adapter Kit (MPN 7822453) is the wiring bridge between a Baxi uSense 2 Wired Smart Room Thermostat (7775937) and any Baxi appliance that doesn't connect to it directly — including Baxi air source heat pumps and older Baxi, Potterton and Main combi boilers. The kit supplies 24 V power to the gateway, and the gateway in turn provides OpenTherm, RBUS and 230 V switched-live connection options to the appliance.

In a multi-zone installation you need one gateway plus one uSense 2 per zone, so the kit also expands the system's zoning capability beyond a single room.

3-in-1
OpenTherm · RBUS · 230 V
24 V
Power output
50 m
Max thermostat distance
Zone-ready
1 kit per zone
Required for heat pumps and most older combis. You do not need this kit for the newer Baxi 200 / 400 / 600 / 800 Combi 2, the Assure 500 Combi 2, or the Baxi Split ASHP — those connect directly to the uSense 2. Everything else does.

Key features

Three connection options

Gateway terminals support OpenTherm (OT) for modulating control, RBUS for native Baxi connection, and 230 V switched-live (ON/OFF) for legacy applications — pick whichever your appliance supports.

Multi-zone enabler

Each gateway + uSense 2 acts as an independent heating zone. Add as many as the system has zones — every one shows up separately in the Baxi Thermostat app.

Power adapter included

Comes with the 24 V power adapter that runs the gateway, plus an adhesive mounting pad for tidy installation. The adapter must be sited outside the appliance casing, not within it.

OpenTherm boiler-side modulation

On OpenTherm-connected boilers the gateway forwards modulating commands so the uSense 2 controls flow temperature and burner output, not just on/off — better efficiency and smoother room temperatures.

Boiler Plus compliant pairing

With the gateway connecting via OpenTherm or RBUS, the uSense 2 satisfies Boiler Plus on combi installations — no extra weather-compensation kit needed.

Polarity-free thermostat wiring

The low-voltage line between the gateway and the uSense 2 room unit is polarity-free — either wire to either terminal — making installation faster and harder to get wrong.

Qualified installer only. The gateway side connects to mains 230 V. Live, neutral, earth, common and switched-live must be identified correctly before connection. Incorrect wiring will damage the room unit and gateway, and may invalidate the appliance's warranty. Connect 230 V to the OpenTherm or low-voltage terminals will destroy the kit.

Frequently asked questions

Do I definitely need this kit?
Only for certain appliances. The newer Baxi 200 / 400 / 600 / 800 Combi 2, the Assure 500 Combi 2 and the Baxi Split ASHP connect directly to the uSense 2 — no gateway required. All other Baxi, Potterton and Main combis, plus the Baxi Mono ASHP / HP40 / HP50 heat pumps, do need the gateway. Multi-zone systems always need one per zone.
What's in the box?
The gateway, a 24 V power adapter, an adhesive mounting pad for the adapter, and the installation guide. The uSense 2 thermostat itself (7775937) is sold separately.
Why do I need the power adapter?
The gateway runs on 24 V DC. The supplied power adapter steps down 230 V mains to 24 V and feeds the gateway via a plug-in connector. Per Baxi's installation guide the adapter must be located outside the appliance casing, secured with the adhesive pad provided.
How far can the thermostat be from the gateway?
Up to 50 m of cable run between the room unit and the gateway. The cable is low-voltage and polarity-free — either wire to either terminal.
Can I use it with a System or Heat-Only boiler?
No. The uSense 2 system, gateway included, is not compatible with System or Heat-Only boilers. Use one of Baxi's programmable thermostats designed for those installations instead.
Don't forget the thermostat
