Samsung EHS HT Quiet Mono R32 Heat Pump - 8kW to 14kW

The Samsung EHS Mono HT Quiet is a high-temperature, low-noise air-to-water monobloc heat pump, available in 8 kW, 12 kW and 14 kW in both single-phase (230V) and three-phase (400V) configurations, using R32 refrigerant. Its defining capability is a maximum leaving water temperature of 70°C — matching the output of a gas boiler and making it suitable for direct retrofit to existing radiator systems. The full range is MCS-certified at 65°C (SCOP: 2.82 at 8 kW; 3.01 at 12 kW; 3.03 at 14 kW), which is significant: this is the first Samsung R32 heat pump with MCS certification at this flow temperature, enabling BUS grant eligibility for radiator-only boiler replacements. At 35°C, all models achieve ErP class A+++. The new Scroll Compressor with Flash Injection and enlarged heat exchanger deliver 100 % rated heating output at −25°C outdoor. Quiet Mode down to 35 dB(A). Dark grey premium design. All three models share the same chassis: 1,270 × 1,018 × 530 mm.

Key Features
70°C Maximum Flow Temperature — MCS Certified at 65°C
The HT Quiet achieves a maximum leaving water temperature of 70°C across outdoor temperatures from −15°C to +43°C. More significantly, the full range (8 kW, 12 kW, 14 kW) is MCS-listed at 65°C (MCS cert: 011-1W0547_10) — the first Samsung R32 monobloc to achieve this rating. This enables BUS grant applications for properties that cannot achieve standard 55°C design without full radiator replacement. At 65°C design, radiator output is approximately 2.4× higher than at 50°C, meaning existing radiators need far less or no upgrades.

New Scroll Compressor with Flash Injection — Compression Ratio 13 → 17
The HT Quiet uses a redesigned Scroll Compressor with an extended Oil Groove and Flash Injection Technology. Flash injection introduces refrigerant gas at an intermediate pressure point in the compression cycle, increasing the mass flow of refrigerant without increasing compressor size. Combined with strengthened internal components, this raises the compression ratio from 13 to 17 — enabling the higher discharge pressures needed to deliver 70°C water without excessive electrical input. The enlarged heat exchanger increases the heat transfer area, maintaining capacity in low outdoor temperatures.

100 % Heating Output at −25°C — Antifreeze Protection Built In
Samsung certify 100 % of rated heating capacity at −25°C outdoor, tested to EN 14511. The enlarged heat exchanger and new compressor work together to maintain full output in extreme cold conditions — well beyond the UK design outdoor temperature for all regions. The unit also features an Antifreeze Protection Heater and Antifreeze Protection Control: if the heat pump has been off for 60 minutes with outdoor temperature at 3°C, the water side pump is automatically activated to prevent water pipe freezing.

35 dB(A) Quiet Mode — Groove Grid Felt Acoustic System
The HT Quiet is Samsung’s quietest R32 heat pump at launch. A 4-step Quiet Mode reduces output to as low as 35 dB(A) — measured 3m from the front unit in an anechoic room at 7°C. The patented Groove Grid Felt (Patent P2022-0012826) double-layer internal sound insulation blocks and absorbs compressor vibration and noise. At 35 dB(A), the unit typically satisfies MCS MIS 3005 (≤42 dB(A) at the nearest noise-sensitive property) within standard 1 m boundary setbacks on most domestic sites. Rated sound pressure in normal operation: 42 dB(A).

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes this pump different from a standard R32 heat pump?
Three key differences: (1) 70°C maximum flow temperature vs 55 – 65°C for standard units. (2) MCS certification at 65°C — the first Samsung R32 monobloc with this rating, enabling BUS grants for radiator-only retrofit without emitter upgrades. (3) 35 dB(A) Quiet Mode with Groove Grid Felt acoustic system vs 40 – 45 dB(A) for earlier Samsung models. The new Scroll Compressor with Flash Injection enables the higher temperatures while maintaining A+++ efficiency at 35°C.
Can I replace my gas boiler with this heat pump without upgrading my radiators?
In many cases, yes. The HT Quiet can deliver up to 70°C, matching the temperature your gas boiler uses. However, running at 70°C continuously reduces efficiency significantly (SCOP ~2.82 – 3.03 vs 3.34 – 4.75 at lower temperatures). The practical approach is a heat loss calculation: if your radiators can deliver enough heat at 60 – 65°C, you can replace the boiler without major radiator works and still benefit from the MCS 65°C SCOP (2.82 – 3.03). An MCS installer should confirm this with a proper heat loss survey and radiator check.
Do I need to buy anything else to make this heat pump work?
Yes. The outdoor unit requires: (1) a control kit (e.g. Samsung MIM-E03EN) for system operation and programming. (2) for SmartThings WiFi control, the separate MIM-H04EN WiFi Kit 2.0. (3) an indoor hydronic system including a heat pump cylinder for DHW, any required buffer vessel, expansion vessels, a plate heat exchanger or appropriate header arrangements, and correctly sized emitters. The heat pump is supplied as an outdoor unit only. Your MCS installer will specify the complete system design.
What is the R32 refrigerant situation with F-Gas phase-down?
R32 has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 675, which is subject to the F-Gas Regulation phase-down schedule. R32 equipment is being phased out from 2026 in the EU; the UK has its own F-Gas regulation following Brexit but follows a similar trajectory. The HT Quiet was launched in R32 and remains available. However, if long-term refrigerant availability and phase-down resilience are priorities, Samsung’s R290 (GWP = 3) range is the more future-proof choice — though R290 requires F-Gas R290 competency certification for the installer.

⚠ MCS-accredited F-Gas qualified installer required: Air-to-water heat pump installation must be performed by an F-Gas registered engineer and, for BUS grant eligibility, an MCS-accredited heat pump installer. R32 is an A2L mildly flammable refrigerant — standard F-Gas certification covers R32 installation.
⚠ MIM controller and WiFi kit sold separately: The Samsung EHS Mono HT Quiet outdoor unit requires a separate control kit (e.g. MIM-E03EN) for system operation. WiFi/SmartThings connectivity additionally requires the MIM-H04EN WiFi Kit 2.0 (sold separately).
ℹ Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) eligible — up to £7,500: This MCS-listed heat pump is eligible for the UK Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. MCS certification number: 011-1W0547_10. Confirm current scheme eligibility at gov.uk/boiler-upgrade-scheme.

MCS-listed SCOPs per EN 14825. 65°C MCS certification number: 011-1W0547_10. SCOP at 70°C (max flow) is not MCS-listed; operating at 70°C is for DHW boost and peak-load scenarios, not the system design flow temperature. Select the design flow temperature that allows the system to meet heat demand with correctly sized emitters for best seasonal efficiency.

SmartThings Compatible — Remote Control via MIM-H04EN WiFi Kit
The HT Quiet is compatible with the Samsung SmartThings ecosystem when the optional MIM-H04EN Wi-Fi Kit 2.0 is installed. SmartThings provides remote on/off, mode/temperature control, start/stop scheduling, energy monitoring, leaving water temperature display and error code alerts from the SmartThings app on iOS or Android. The WiFi Kit connects via the NASA bus on the heat pump. Note: the MIM-H04EN is sold separately; a Samsung account and 2.4 GHz WiFi at the property are required.

A+++ Efficiency at 35°C — Average COP 5.05 at A7/W35
All three models achieve ErP class A+++ at 35°C flow, rated to EN 14825. Samsung report an average COP of 5.05 across the HT Quiet range at A7/W35 nominal heating conditions (7°C outdoor, 35°C leaving water). At this COP, 5 kWh of heat is delivered for every 1 kWh of electricity consumed, with the balance sourced from ambient air. At the 55°C design point (typical UK retrofit target), SCOP remains 3.34 – 3.64 depending on model — still representing approximately 3× the efficiency of electric resistance heating.
