Salus UG800 Universal Gateway Zigbee 3.0 Smart Home Hub 200 Devices Heating Controls
The Salus UG800 Universal Gateway is the central hub of the Salus Smart Home ecosystem — connecting up to 200 Zigbee 3.0 devices to the cloud and the free Salus Premium Lite app on iOS, Android and web browser. Every Salus Smart Home product — thermostats, TRV3RF radiator valves, RX30RF receivers, relay modules, smart plugs and sensors — is managed and scheduled through the UG800. Without a gateway, Salus Zigbee devices can only run in basic offline mode; the UG800 unlocks remote access, voice control, push notifications, OneTouch automation rules and the AI-powered SALUS Sense energy optimiser.
The UG800 improves on the outgoing UGE600 with Bluetooth-assisted initial Wi-Fi setup — no Ethernet cable needed to commission on first install, making it quicker and easier to deploy in properties where the router is awkward to reach. A wired RJ45 Ethernet port and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi are both supported for permanent installations. The compact 98 × 93 × 25 mm body sits on any shelf or can be wall-mounted; the included universal power adapter (AC 100–240 V) works worldwide. Cloud integration runs on AWS IoT with software support guaranteed to 31 December 2030.
& LAN
A single UG800 manages up to 200 Salus Zigbee 3.0 devices on one network — thermostats, TRV3RF valves, RX30RF receivers, RM-16A relays, smart plugs and sensors. One hub, one app, the whole home.
The UG800 broadcasts a Bluetooth signal during first install so the Premium Lite app can push Wi-Fi credentials to it without an Ethernet cable. Once connected, a wired RJ45 LAN port is available for a permanent cable connection.
Enabled via the Premium Lite app, SALUS Sense applies an AI-based algorithm that monitors actual heating usage and reduces energy waste over time without lowering comfort or changing how thermostats behave. The longer it runs, the more it learns.
OneTouch rules in the app chain events across devices — put all zones into Away mode when the last phone leaves home, activate a relay when a door sensor opens, or trigger a scene at a set time. No coding, no third-party hub.
The free app (iOS, Android and web browser) gives remote schedules, energy data and push notifications from anywhere. Native integrations with Amazon Alexa and Google Home add hands-free voice control.
Cloud infrastructure on AWS IoT ensures reliable remote access with over-the-air firmware updates. SALUS Controls commits to software support through to 31 December 2030, with API and firmware customisation available for commercial integrators.

Do I need the UG800 to use Salus Smart Home products?
For remote app control, scheduling, voice control, SALUS Sense and push notifications, yes. Without a gateway, Salus Zigbee devices use a CO10RF coordinator for local-only control — basic schedules work but there is no remote access, no app and no voice integration. The UG800 is what connects the Zigbee mesh to the cloud and unlocks the full feature set.
What is SALUS Sense?
SALUS Sense is an AI-based energy optimisation feature in the Premium Lite app, enabled by the UG800. It monitors actual heating usage and gradually refines heating schedules to eliminate wasted runtime — without lowering comfort levels or changing thermostat setpoints. Enable it with one toggle in the app; it improves automatically as it learns your building's thermal behaviour over time.
UG800 vs UGE600 — do I need to upgrade?
No — if your UGE600 installation is working well, there is no need to replace it. The UG800 adds Bluetooth-assisted Wi-Fi setup (no Ethernet cable needed to commission), confirmed 200-device capacity and a smaller form factor. For new installations the UG800 is the current recommended gateway.
What happens if my internet goes down?
The UG800 enters offline mode automatically — all thermostats, receivers and valves keep running stored schedules without any user action. App remote control, push notifications and voice control are unavailable until internet is restored, at which point the system returns to cloud operation seamlessly.
