The Kamco Clearflow CF20 Compact is a handheld, lightweight professional power flushing machine — the most portable in the Clearflow range. Despite its compact footprint (250 × 450 × 540 mm) and sub-12 kg weight, it delivers genuine professional performance, circulating water and chemical at high velocity to dislodge and remove the rust, sludge and scale that rob heating systems of their efficiency.

Invented by Kamco in 1992, power flushing remains the most effective method of cleaning existing central heating systems, especially those carrying decades of accumulated corrosion debris. The CF20's acid-proof construction makes it dual purpose: in hard water areas it can also be used to descale domestic boilers and water heaters using Kamco's Scalebreaker chemicals.

The CF20 is well suited to air source heat pump installations where system flushing and glycol filling are key commissioning steps, as well as conventional domestic systems, underfloor heating circuits, and the descaling of plate heat exchangers.

🎓 Free Proficiency Training Included — Every Clearflow purchase includes a free training session at Kamco's UK Training Academy in St Albans, Hertfordshire. Training must be booked in advance and is subject to availability.

Key Features

Instantaneous Flow ReverserReverses flow direction instantly — loosens and mobilises stubborn deposits from both sides without disconnecting hoses.

What's Included

📦 Box Contents:

  • Clearflow CF20 Compact power flushing pump
  • 2 × 5 m flow and return hoses (16 mm I.D. reinforced PVC)
  • 1 × dump hose
  • Hose end fittings and couplings
  • Starter pack of power flushing chemicals and corrosion inhibitor (sufficient for approximately 1–2 power flushes)
  • Comprehensive operating manual
  • Free proficiency training session voucher (St Albans, subject to availability)
⚠️ Chemical Note: Power Flush FX2 is the recommended 'one shot' flushing chemical for use with the CF20. It is NOT suitable for systems with aluminium radiators or heat exchangers — use Kamco HyperFlush instead. Always neutralise FX2 residues with Neutralising Crystals before disposal.

Which Chemical to Use?

Kamco recommends two primary flushing chemicals for use with the CF20 Compact:

  • Power Flush FX2 (one shot): Use for systems with steel, copper, brass and plastic pipework. Dissolves sludge and scale simultaneously in one visit. Dose: 2.5 L per 100 L system capacity (approx. 10–12 radiators); 5 L for severely blocked systems. Follow with Neutralising Crystals.
  • HyperFlush: Use for systems containing aluminium radiators or aluminium boiler heat exchangers. No neutralisation required after flushing.
  • SystemSafe DM (corrosion inhibitor): Must be added to the clean system after flushing, in compliance with Building Regulations Part L and Benchmark documentation requirements.

Installation & Operation Notes

  • Must be operated by a suitably qualified heating engineer. Power flushing is not a DIY task.
  • Suitable for domestic gas, oil and electric heating systems, underfloor heating circuits, and air source heat pump primary circuits.
  • Connection is typically made across the circulator pump ports or across the boiler flow and return after removing the boiler from the circuit.
  • Use with a residual current circuit breaker (RCD) at all times. PAT test the unit annually.
  • Wear suitable PPE when handling chemicals: gloves, eye protection, and work in a well-ventilated area.
  • After flushing, add a DWTA-approved corrosion inhibitor to comply with Benchmark and Building Regulations Part L.
  • Service and repair via Kamco's St Albans service workshop. Register your pump at kamco.co.uk for warranty records.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the CF20 compare to the CF40?The CF20 is the most compact and lightweight model in the Clearflow range, with a smaller 20L tank and lower flow rate (60 L/min vs 90 L/min), making it ideal for engineers who prioritise portability. It's rated for up to 15 radiators over 2 storeys. The CF40 handles up to 25 radiators and is better suited to larger domestic properties. For very small systems or difficult-access properties, the CF20 is the preferred choice.
Can I use the CF20 for air source heat pump commissioning?Yes. The CF20 was designed with air source applications in mind and is suitable for flushing and glycol filling of new and retro-fit heat pump primary circuits. Its acid-proof construction means it can also handle inhibited glycol solutions safely.
Is free training really included?Yes. Every new Clearflow pump purchase entitles the buyer to one free proficiency training session at Kamco's training centre in St Albans. Training must be booked in advance and is subject to place availability. Kamco also offers a Weblink programme to connect trained engineers with customers seeking power flushing services.
What warranty does the CF20 carry?Kamco provides a 2-year parts and labour warranty on all Clearflow pumps. Register your pump on the Kamco website to activate your warranty record. Kamco's service workshop in St Albans provides repair and maintenance support throughout the product's life.
Can the CF20 descale a boiler?Yes. The acid-proof construction means the CF20 can circulate Scalebreaker descaling chemicals to remove limescale from boiler heat exchangers, water heaters and calorifiers — not just sludge removal. This dual-purpose capability means one pump serves both power flushing and descaling applications.
What chemicals are NOT compatible with the CF20?The CF20 is compatible with all commercially available acids, alkalis and chlorine solutions. There are no chemical compatibility restrictions with the pump itself. However, Power Flush FX2 is not compatible with aluminium radiators or boiler heat exchangers — use HyperFlush in those situations.
Does the CF20 come with pH test strips?Yes. The starter chemical pack includes pH test strips, which are used to verify that the system pH is within acceptable limits before and after the flushing procedure. This is important when using FX2, which requires neutralisation before disposal.
