Heatrae Sadia Megaflo Eco Plus Indirect Unvented Hot Water Cylinder – 250i / 300i / 400i / 500i / 570i
The Heatrae Sadia Megaflo Eco Plus Indirect is the high-capacity evolution of the market-leading Megaflo range — engineered for large domestic properties and light commercial applications demanding exceptional volumes of mains-pressure hot water. Available in 250, 300, 400, 500, and 570 litres, these boiler-fed unvented cylinders feature an expanded potable-water coil for outstanding heat transfer, 100 mm insulation on the larger models, and are built from high-grade duplex stainless steel (Marine Grade Duplex 2205 on 400 L and above) with a lifetime inner-tank guarantee. A single 3 kW backup immersion heater provides electric fallback and off-peak charging capability.
Megaflo Eco Plus cylinders must be installed and commissioned by a G3 competent person (or equivalent under Scottish / Northern Irish Building Regulations). Electrical connections must be made by a qualified electrician in line with current IET Wiring Regulations. The Benchmark checklist must be completed at commissioning.
This page covers the Eco Plus Indirect range (250i EP – 570i EP), heated by a gas, oil, or heat-pump boiler via a primary coil, with a 3 kW electric backup immersion heater. An expansion vessel is supplied with every Eco Plus Indirect cylinder (24 L for 250/300i, 35 L for 400–570i) — unlike the standard Eco Indirect which uses internal expansion only. Direct (all-electric) variants are also available separately.
250i and 300i — High Grade Duplex (HGD) stainless steel · 400i, 500i, and 570i — Marine Grade Duplex 2205 (MGD) stainless steel, providing even greater corrosion resistance and strength for larger vessels.
The Eco Plus Indirect features an enlarged primary coil capable of 42 kW output on 250/300i models (at 15 l/min, 80 °C flow) and up to 56.9 kW on the 400i at 60 l/min — enabling outstanding first-hour and continuous hot water performance. First-hour output reaches 898 litres (250i) and 1,485 litres (400i) at ΔT 45 K.
Eco Plus cylinders operate at 3.5 bar — 0.5 bar higher than the standard Eco range — delivering even more powerful flow rates to multiple simultaneous outlets. This makes the Eco Plus the right choice for large homes with several bathrooms, high-demand en suites, or applications requiring oversized showerheads and fast-fill bathtubs.
Unlike the standard Eco Indirect, every Eco Plus Indirect includes a potable-water expansion vessel as standard — 24 litres (250i/300i) or 35 litres (400i–570i), pre-set at 3 bar with ¾" BSP connection. This simplifies installation planning and ensures compliance with system-expansion requirements without additional component sourcing.
The 250i and 300i carry 60 mm CFC/HCFC-free polyurethane foam insulation matching the standard Eco range. The 400i, 500i, and 570i step up to 100 mm insulation — reducing proportional standing losses for these larger vessels and delivering excellent heat retention performance in commercial plant-room environments.
The three largest Eco Plus Indirect models (400i, 500i, 570i) use Marine Grade Duplex 2205 stainless steel — a higher-specification alloy used in demanding marine and industrial environments, offering superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. All models are pressure-tested to 15 bar and backed by the Megaflo lifetime inner-tank guarantee.
Every Eco Plus Indirect includes a 3.5 bar PRV (6 bar on 250/300i), 8 bar pressure relief valve, ¼-turn isolator, line strainer, non-return valve, factory-fitted 90 °C / 10 bar T&P valve, tundish, drain valve, additional thermostat and thermal cut-out, wiring centre, and 2-port motorised valve — a complete installation pack out of the box.
