KEY FEATURES
🔵 Internal Expansion — No External Vessel

The patented internal floating-baffle expansion system accommodates thermal expansion within the cylinder itself. This eliminates the need for an external expansion vessel, reducing pipework, saving space, and simplifying installation — ideal for retrofit projects with limited plant-room space.

🔵 Titanium Immersion Heaters

All direct models are fitted with titanium heating elements — the highest-grade choice for longevity in even hard or aggressive water conditions. The unique 'L'-shaped immersion heater maximises the volume of water that can be heated electrically, reducing energy consumption during partial draws.

🔵 Duplex Stainless Steel Construction

The inner vessel is fabricated from high-grade duplex stainless steel, pressure-tested to 15 bar. This alloy delivers exceptional corrosion resistance and a high strength-to-weight ratio, which is why Heatrae Sadia backs it with a full lifetime guarantee on the inner tank for domestic installations.

🔵 Mains-Pressure Performance — No Pump Required

Connected directly to the incoming mains, the Megaflo Eco Direct delivers up to 76 litres per minute at 3 bar — enough for multiple simultaneous outlets. Because pressure is mains-derived, no shower pumps or header tanks are required, dramatically reducing system complexity.

🔵 60 mm CFC/HCFC-Free Insulation

A 60 mm layer of fire-retardant polyurethane foam (zero ozone depletion, GWP = 3.1) surrounds the entire cylinder, giving the range its excellent standing heat-loss figures. Combined with the insulated T&P valve, heat retention exceeds the requirements of Building Regulations Part L.

🔵 Full Safety Controls Supplied

Every cylinder ships with a complete cold-water inlet control kit — 3 bar PRV, 8 bar pressure relief valve, ¼-turn isolating valve, line strainer, non-return valve and drain cock — plus a factory-fitted 90 °C / 10 bar T&P relief valve, tundish, and T&P insulation kit. Nothing extra to source.

🔵 Flexible Siting — No Loft Tanks

Because the Megaflo Eco is fed directly from the mains, no cold-water storage cistern is required in the loft, freeing up roof space and removing a source of contamination risk. The cylinder can be located almost anywhere in the property — including airing cupboards, utility rooms, or garages — provided discharge pipework can be correctly run.

🔵 ErP-Rated & Regulation-Compliant

All models carry an EU Energy Related Products (ErP) efficiency rating (B or C depending on size), demonstrating compliance with energy-labelling requirements. The Megaflo Eco also complies with Building Regulations G3 and L, Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations, and holds Kiwa certification (No. 1608707).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the difference between the 70D and the DD models?
The 70D is fitted with a single 3 kW titanium immersion heater, making it suited to smaller properties with lower daily hot-water demand. The DD models (125DD through 300DD) come with two 3 kW elements (6 kW total) for significantly faster heat-up times and greater recovery capacity — important when multiple outlets are used simultaneously in larger homes. Choosing a DD model gives you the flexibility to run just one element on off-peak tariffs and both elements for a rapid boost.
Do I need a separate expansion vessel with the Megaflo Eco Direct?
No. The Megaflo Eco's patented internal floating-baffle system accommodates thermal expansion within the cylinder itself, so there is no requirement for an external expansion vessel. This is one of the key advantages over older unvented designs — the installation footprint is smaller, pipework is neater, and there is one fewer component to service or replace.
What mains pressure do I need for a Megaflo Eco to perform well?
The minimum recommended supply is 0.15 MPa (1.5 bar) at 20 litres per minute. The cold-water combination valve supplied regulates operating pressure to 3 bar, regardless of incoming mains pressure (up to 16 bar). Performance at 1.5 bar / 20 l/min will be adequate but modest — for the best shower and bath-fill experience, a higher mains flow rate is beneficial. The combination valve's PRV is factory-set and non-adjustable.
Can the Megaflo Eco Direct be connected to a boiler or solar thermal system?
No — these are direct-only cylinders. They are heated exclusively by their titanium electric immersion heaters. If you want to use a boiler, solar thermal, or heat pump as a primary heat source (with electric immersion as backup), you need a Megaflo Eco Indirect or Megaflo Eco Solar model, which include a primary heating coil. Contact us if you need guidance on selecting the right variant.
Who can install a Megaflo Eco Direct, and what regulations apply?
Installation must be carried out by a G3 Competent Person (England & Wales) — or under Building Warrant (Scotland) / Building Regulation P5 (Northern Ireland). All electrical connections must be made by a qualified electrician to IET Wiring Regulations. The installer must complete the Benchmark commissioning checklist and leave the product guide with the householder. The cylinder must comply with Building Regulations Part G (unvented hot water), Part L (energy efficiency), and the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations.
