Flexible 150/160/200 mm Ducting

Air inlet and exhaust connections accept 150, 160, or 200 mm duct (PVC or PEHD) with up to 189 Pa available static pressure for long duct runs. Can also operate without ducting in rooms of at least 20 m³ — a significantly lower threshold than the previous 30 m³ generation requirement.

No F-Gas Qualification Required

The sealed R290 refrigerant circuit is factory-charged and does not require field handling of refrigerant gas — so no F-Gas handling certification is needed to install this unit. Installers do need to demonstrate competency in safe handling of flammable refrigerant systems, and a G3 qualification remains mandatory for the unvented works.

Does installation of the Nuos Plus S2 Wi-Fi 200D require F-Gas certification?
No F-Gas handling certificate is required. The sealed R290 refrigerant circuit is factory-charged — the engineer does not open or handle the refrigerant circuit on site. However, because R290 is class A3 (highly flammable), installers must be competent in safe working with flammable refrigerant systems in line with BS EN 378 and IEC 60335-2-40 Annex CC, and must ensure the installation environment is free of ignition sources. A separate G3 qualification remains mandatory for the unvented cylinder work.
What is the minimum room size for unducted installation?
The unit requires a minimum room volume of 20 m³ for unducted (free-air) operation — smaller than the previous Nuos generation (30 m³), making it suitable for more compact utility rooms and plant rooms. The space must be adequately ventilated and must not contain open-flued gas appliances. For smaller spaces, air intake and exhaust can be ducted to an external wall (150, 160, or 200 mm duct, up to 189 Pa total pressure drop).
Can the 200D work with a solar PV system?
Yes. The Nuos Plus S2 Wi-Fi has an integrated photovoltaic function. When a surplus signal is detected via the SG1 or SG2 inputs (or a Smart Grid contact), the unit switches to a boosted heating mode to absorb excess solar generation. The target temperature used during PV surplus periods (PV SET parameter) is adjustable by the installer. No separate energy diverter device is required, though one can be used if preferred by the installer.
What is the difference between the 200D and the 250I?
The 200D (MPN 4057138) is a 200-litre direct cylinder — heated solely by the integrated heat pump and 1800 W backup element, with no secondary coil. The 250I (MPN 4057139) is a 245-litre indirect cylinder fitted with a 0.65 m² heat-exchange coil that accepts heat from a solar thermal system, boiler, or other primary heat generator via a closed primary circuit. The 250I is taller (1931 mm vs 1671 mm), heavier (123 kg vs 90 kg), and achieves a higher COP of 3.51 at the same test condition.
How does i-Memory mode work?
i-Memory is a learning algorithm that monitors the household's actual hot water usage patterns over a rolling four-week window. During the first week it operates at a constant set-point; from the second week onwards, it automatically adjusts the heating schedule to have sufficient hot water ready whenever it is typically needed — while avoiding unnecessary reheating during low-demand periods. The learned profile can be reset at any time via parameter U9 in the user menu.
What is included in the unvented kit supplied with MPN 4057138?
The bundled unvented kit contains the components required for G3-compliant installation as a closed unvented hot water storage system, including a pressure reducing valve, expansion vessel, temperature and pressure relief valve (TPRV), combination PRV, and tundish. The tundish must be installed vertically within 750 mm of the TPRV and in a position visible to building occupants. Discharge pipework from the tundish to a safe termination point is not included and must be provided on site by the installer.
